VoyCabulary.com - Online web dictionary

VoyCabulary.com - Online web dictionary & thesaurus word linking lookup reference tool.:

"VoyCabulary makes the words on any webpage into links, so you can look them up with just a click--in a dictionary of your choice."

(This is my contribution of the week.... Try it with a NY Times news article!
Unfortunately it doesn't work with some dynamically generated web content like php/mySQL pages... but it's pretty neat...

See you next Friday... james)

cinema

Hi everybody!

I thought talking a bit about the movies I've seen could be a good idea for a post on the blog. Maybe some of you can add some commentaries to my point of view this could be very interesting.

So the last movies I've seen and that you can still go to see are:

Wallace and Gromit:
  • the story: (takes place in England) Wallace and his dog Gromit are living and working in a small village. Rabbits have invaded the gardens and the two heroes try to capture them. The date of the great competition for the bigger vegetable is approaching in the village and a mysterious Ware-Rabbit appears devastating plantations...
  • my opinion: I didn't really want to see this film at first but I spent a very good time. It is very funny and full of wit!
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride:
  • the story: A young man meets the girl his parents want him to marry and fortunately falls in love with her. The problem is he meets somebody in the woods one night and has to marry her: the corpse bride..
  • my opinion: A really good film, beautiful images and wonderful music.
Match Point:
  • the story: a tennis champion decides to become a teacher for rich families and decides to marry the very rich sister of a very rich friend of his... One day he meets his friend's fiancée Nola and instantly falls in love with her.
  • my opinion: Great actors, intense suspense, completely amoral. You MUST go and see it!!
The legend of Zorro:
  • the story: Zorro has grown up, his wife to and they have a kid...
  • my opinion: not boring but not good
that's it for the last movies I've seen

GO TO THE CINEMA!!!! :D

Rocketboom VideoBlog... vblogs... better than CNN?

Rocketboom :

I thought you might enjoy this daily vblog.... it's different than the mainstream media!

hope to see you soon!
I'll be back in May!
james

"Rocketboom is a three minute daily video weblog based in New York City covering information and commentary ranging from top news stories to quirky internet culture. Agenda includes releasing each new clip at 9am EST, Monday through Friday. With a heavy emphasis on international arts, technology and weblog drama, Rocketboom is presented via online video and widely distributed through RSS.

RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is an exciting web technology that allows viewers to subscribe and then download newly published content to their computers or portable players automatically once it becomes available. As a result, when a subscriber is ready to view the new video there is no download or buffer delay. [*note: the word 'subscribe' can be misleading because everything is free]

Rocketboom is currently one of the most popular videoblogs on the internet with more daily subscribers for original syndicated multimedia content than nearly any other site, including podcasts.

We differ from a regular TV program in many important ways. Instead of costing millions of dollars to produce, Rocketboom is created with a consumer-level video camera, a laptop, two lights and a map with no additional overhead or costs. Also, Rocketboom is distributed online, all around the world and on demand, and thus has a much larger potential audience than any TV broadcast. However, we spend $0 on distribution because bandwidth costs and space are donated, and $0 on promotion, relying solely on the viral nature of the internet. Finally, while TV programs have traditionally been uni-directional, Rocketboom engages its international audience in a wide range of topical discussions. "

Free music at SXSW-- south by southwest festival

south by southwest festivals : "SXSW Music
March 16-20, 2005

Hope you're all doing well.... SXSW is actually three festivals at the same time.... music/ film / and "interactive" IT... I thought you'd like the music most! james

read more below.....

'Now in its 18th year, the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, is a veritable fantasyland for music fans. There's a nearly 24-hour-a-day onslaught of live music showcases, parties and panels, as well as a whiplash-inducing propensity to run into other journalists, publicists, long-lost friends....' Billboard.com March 19, 2004

And you can listen to it for free!

"SXSW PLAYER: A POPULAR NEW FEATURE
SXSW Music Player The SXSW Music Player V.05 is a new and exciting way to explore the sights and sounds of SXSW 2005. You can listen to a continuous stream of all the acts, and the player will show you who you are listening to and give you a link to their band page. You can also use the quick search field to find a particular band and listen to just their track. We hope you have as much fun as we have been having with it. "

http://2005.sxsw.com/music/#

Every March SXSW Music delivers new opportunities to make your vision real. Musicians and the companies they work with have been using SXSW as a cost-effective way to promote themselves since 1987, and they come back year after year because SXSW works! It's a potent method to connect with press, radio, and other music industry players.

Over 1200 acts showcased last year before more than 8000 registrants from all over the world. Pop, jazz, country, blues, reggae, hip hop, electronica - every imaginable style of music, from nearly every continent - is represented each night at over 50 of Austin's premier stages, many within walking distance of one another. By day, the music industry's most accomplished and creative personalities collaborated, argued, and shared their experiences in dozens of panels, workshops, interviews, and meetings."
